About Stromness Sailing Club
Sailing the beautiful waters of Orkney since 1952
Stromness Sailing Club is located in the picturesque town of Stromness on the west coast of Orkney Mainland. Our club provides sailing opportunities for all ages and abilities, from beginners to experienced sailors.
We welcome new members throughout the year and offer training sessions, club racing, and social events. Whether you're looking to learn to sail, improve your skills, or simply enjoy the company of fellow sailing enthusiasts, there's a place for you at Stromness Sailing Club.
Our club benefits from the sheltered waters of Stromness Harbour and the more challenging conditions of Scapa Flow, providing diverse sailing opportunities for all conditions and experience levels.

Mark
Commodore
Mark has been an active and enthusiastic member of Stromness SC for many years and is the Club's Senior Dinghy Instructor and Child Protection Officer.
He was the main driving force behind the Club's successful mission to obtain sponsorship to train instructors, improve the Club's Topper fleet and purchase new RS Feva training dinghies and a new support RIB.
Having served his term as Vice Commodore for two years, Mark was elected as Commodore in December 2018 and stepped down for that role in 2022. He is committed to trying to develop the Club and build its membership base. In the absence of a volunteer for the role of Vice Commodore he has agreed to take that job on temporarily to provide support to Tony Miller.
Membership
We offer various membership categories to suit your needs. New members are always welcome! Please contact us for more information about joining the club.
